For over 20 years, FSC certification has remained the most important tool for implementing responsible forest management and a guiding light for development of forest sector in Ukraine. Thanks to FSC's democratic procedures, openness and transparency of work of various participants of the certification system, stakeholders can contribute to support of sustainable and multi-purpose forest management and forest conservation.
More than a hundred participants learned about opportunities to engage stakeholders in responsible forest management in the spheres of developing FSC's normative framework, implementing FSC's national standard, as well as observing audits and appealing certification decisions.
Commitment to the policy and principles of international certification schemes, in particular FSC, in terms of deepening communication and other forms of interaction with stakeholders on issues related to forests and forestry, was expressed in a presentation by a representative of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".
International FSC members from Ukraine emphasized the opportunities of membership in this organization as the highest form of stakeholder engagement in FSC certification. Participation in shaping the global agenda through such opportunities contributes to solving forest issues at the international and national levels of each country.
At the end of the webinar, FSC Ukraine Director Pavlo Kravets said: "The current challenges for responsible forest management can be overcome by joint efforts of everyone, not just the professional community. FSC provides powerful tools for stakeholders to make a positive contribution to changes for the better. Join us in this work!"
