In their latest publication “Global third-party certification and labelling” the two Danish authors Jakob Zeuthen and Lars Ludvigsen present a tool for assessing and comparing global certifications and labelling schemes, which might be helpful when businesses wish to choose the most appropriate for their products and customers.
The tool is called the Butterfly Model. In the guide it is used to analyse 18 global certifications impartially based on the criteria of credibility and market value. FSC ranks second only surpassed by the Fairtrade label. MSC takes third place.
Readers of the handbook will get an overview of the most important global certification schemes, which are based on independent third-party certification, including an assessment on how well they address the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals regarding their criteria and standards.
You can download the guide "Global third-party certification and labelling" on the FSC Danish website.
