The social responsibility of FSC-certified forestry enterprises is a matter of occupational health and safety, cooperation with local communities, ensuring gender equality, and preventing discrimination in enterprises as a part of respect for workers' rights. In this context, online training was held on December 10, 2021, bringing together about 30 participants from forestry enterprises located in different country regions.

The training participants worked on the applicable legislation on gender equality in forestry enterprises and theoretical and practical approaches to forming gender equality systems in enterprises by the FSC national standard.

How to develop a system for reporting and eliminating sexual harassment and discrimination on various grounds? How to make it an effective tool for respecting workers' rights? All this was discussed during the training in a dynamic rhythm using interactive methods to involve the whole audience in the discussion. Each of those present had the opportunity to gain knowledge and valuable experience that will contribute to the proper implementation of the National Forest Stewardship Standard to maintain and improve the socio-economic well-being of workers.

Pavlo Kravets, Director of FSC Ukraine, said: “The participants of the training rediscovered the FSC national standard, realizing that it concerns not only forestry but also protection of human rights, and creating conditions for harmonious personal development. Through the training, those responsible learned to solve complex and sensitive issues of gender equality".
