During August-December 2021, the task force of practicing auditors, representatives of environmental NGOs, and scientists worked to develop recommendations for certification bodies to apply a risk-based approach during audits in Ukraine. The recommendations also include proposals on how to collect data related to forest management enterprises into the level of country risk profile from different information flows.

The results of testing the proposed approaches were presented in August 2022 during the practical seminar

"Risk-based approach in FSC forest management certification".

Integration of risk-based audits into the management system of certification bodies was recognized by the seminar participants as an important element in improving the conformity assessment process and enhancement the quality of forest certification. After all, the preliminary identification of high-risk areas of enterprises based on the best available information, including the Country Risk Profile, makes it possible to adjust the audit plan accordingly, focusing on the most critical points for the forest certification system.

All certification bodies operating in Ukraine are invited to participate in testing the recommendations by sending a free-form letter to p.kravets@ua.fsc.org by 21.09.2022.

Stakeholders can submit their comments related to the document until 01.11.2022
